My scars are deep,

They penetrate my soul,

Knitting the web of defenses,

Glazing over my emotional portrait.

But I was thinking not too long ago,

Without the suffering,

Epidemic pain, universal pain,

Growth and recovery becomes needless,

Miniscule creatures of inception,

Never reach the bridge to evermore.

We remain on one side of life,

In oblivion, ignorance and naivety

Unable to cry the grief of the other,

Or comfort another in need.

As difficult a truth as it is,

Suffering is inherent

to fulfillment.
