If Only

An anonymous friend has contributed an exquisite, romantic poem that I would love to share with my friends.  The title is my idea.  Please *like* to show her support.

When your eyes met mine

I would have loved you

Your tears, your fears all entwine

Place my hand on your neck, soft and warm, fall asleep

All your pain and sorrow, for you, they are mine to keep

When your smile embraced me

I would have loved you

Pain and sorrow, sail to sea

Long icy streams that never end

Like a long road, in it, a bend

When you opened your mouth to speak

I would have loved you

Your secrets and fears left me weak

Snow covered pine trees, in too deep

Say good bye, and never weep

I would have loved you
